We’re creating a children’s book set right here in Knysna—and we want YOUR stories!

Write a short story (300–600 words) that’s fun, adventurous, magical, or inspired by real-life experiences—just make sure it’s child-friendly.

We want to give everyone a chance to get published, so we have established three Author Categories:

1.Young Storytellers (under 16)

2. Aspiring Authors (not professionals)

3. Established Authors

Deadline: 30 September 2025
Send your story: Email it to communications@knysnaedutrust.co.za with the subject Knysna Children’s Book Story and your category. 

Selected stories will be illustrated and published in our community book—with your name as the author! Even if your story isn’t selected for the printed book, some of the best entries will be featured in a digital collection.

Why is this important?

Proceeds will support early childhood education in Knysna through Knysna Education Trust. With 67 partner preschools, the Trust works to ensure that 3000 children get the nutrition, learning, and care to prepare them for formal school. Early education has been proven to be the most effective investment that a country can make towards strengthening the economy and ending the cycle of poverty.
