“I named the school Amora, after my granddaughter, because it means love.”

When I lost my job, a friend asked me to look after her three-month-old grandchild. I said yes, and soon word spread that I cared for children beautifully. One child quickly became six, and parents encouraged me to open my own crèche. With a friend's support, I joined the SmartStart programme and completed the training.

I named the school Amora, after my granddaughter, because it means love.

Fee payments are not always consistent, staff need further training, and I would benefit from stronger administrative support. Despite this, my dream is to grow — with my husband's help we are already extending the building to add more classrooms and toilets, so we can serve even more children in our community.
