427 Books for Preschool Children
From the 15th to 17th of March we joined the Festival of Books on Thesen Island as books lovers gathered for a weekend of thought-provoking ideas and entertainment from the authors of an array of inspiring books. As beneficiaries of the event, KET had a stand where we held a book drive – encouraging participants to sponsor R25 books.
Many of the preschools that KET supports do not have enough age and language appropriate books. Our aim with this drive was to increase the children’s access to books in their home language, helping them on their learning journey. The crowd was lovely, and we were able to secure the funding to purchase 427 books.
Special thanks to Pam Golding for sponsoring 100 of these books! In addition, they also sponsored one child’s fees for the year so that they can attend The Learning Tree, KET’s model preschool.
