The Big Swing
The second Big Swing charity golfing event, in aid of the Knysna Education Trust, was hosted by the stunning Pezula Golf Estate, on the 14th December 2012.
The amazing generosity of people locally and internationally during these challenging economic times, contributed to the Trust raising R468 000 to fund key projects in 2013. Funds raised will be used to support the Trust’s efforts to build two new facilities, one in Hornlee and one in Concordia.
Additional activities of the Trust include, teacher development, funding of improved education tools and techniques, feeding schemes, and assistance with the process of registration with the Department of Education and Social Development.
The Trust also ran a raffle of which the prize was a trip for 4 people to attend the August Masters 2013 tournament. The winning ticket, drawn on Friday night at the gala dinner was held by, Peter Rimbault, of Knysna. A big thank you to all the national and international corporate donors and local sponsors that contributed to the success of the day. Table of Ten (TOT) ladies, all volunteers and Meyer du Toit of Pezula and his team, were instrumental in ensuring a professional event was experienced by all participants. Congratulations to Melanie Bray, Christine Barker, Paula Wishart and Lara Barnard, who won the competition on an amazing 94 points.
The Trust would like to thank all golfers and other participants that contributed towards making the day memorable and for contributing to a better life for the little people of the Eden area.
