Isiseko Educare Centre, a long-standing community preschool serving the children of Damsebos, Knysna, is facing imminent closure due to severe safety hazards within its building. If we do not raise the funds to rebuild the preschool, they will not open again in January 2025.

Principal Brenda Somerset, who established the centre in 2006, has dedicated her life to nurturing and educating children. The teachers at the centre are equally as remarkable, with ECD qualifications to match their abilities.

The preschool currently accommodates 77 children, but the condition of the building poses a serious threat. The steel pipe foundation has rusted, leading to caved-in floors and large holes. Compounding the issue, dampness has caused a severe mould problem, posing a health risk for children and teachers.

Losing this preschool is simply not an option. A complete rebuild is necessary to address these urgent concerns. We ask community members and supporters to please invest in Isiseko Educare Centre. No matter how small, each donation can make a significant impact.
