The Learning Tree Model Preschool

The Learning Tree is KET’s model preschool and practical teacher training centre that provides a holistic learning environment to both learners and educators. Here, children receive age-appropriate developmental support to reach their full potential. Student teachers are mandated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) to complete practical teaching hours in a registered facility and The Learning Tree enables in-classroom experience for them to build confidence and gain experience.

Ongoing Practitioner Professional Development To Ensure Competent, Attentive, And Responsive Teachers

Through in-centre training workshops and on-site visits, teachers and principals learn the essential practical skills and knowledge required to operate effective and safe ECD sites. These programmes also support the development of practitioners' teaching confidence and their ability to positively interact with and help parents to support their child’s development in the home. Practical and fun play-based classroom teaching and management skills ensure our teachers are attentive and responsive to the children’s learning needs. These programmes are aligned with the National Early Learning Development Standards and National Curriculum Framework.

Important Notice

Kindly take note that Teacher Accredited Training has been paused for 2024 while the Quality Council for Trade and Occupations (QTCO) completes and accredits all the new ECD qualifications that are in the process of being scoped.

KET is currently registering the NUMBA and FONIX programmes with SACE (South African Council for Educators) for short course endorsement towards credits for ongoing professional development for our practitioners.

I feel confident that, in the future, I could make a difference in someone’s life and be able to teach some one else by becoming the best teacher I can be - all thanks to KET.

Nadine van der Walt - Level 4, Module 1 student

What I am learning is already helping with how I interact with children and helps me present activities that will enhance their development. I am excited to keep training and to learn more. KET has established a wonderful training centre that really helps us develop our knowledge and skills. This is instrumental in our effectiveness with working with children in the future.

Jules Coates - Level 4, Module 1 student
