Education Elves
These are not regular Christmas elves, these are Education Elves! 14 000km away, elves from The Rotary Club of Tarporley & District have gathered at local fairs to rally support for children’s preschool fees here in the Garden Route. Their goal is to raise funds to sponsor 100 more children through KET’s Adopt a Child’s Education (ACE) programme.
By encouraging people to donate any amount they can, they have already raised funds for 19 children’s fees. It is a heartfelt display of how generous people can be, giving to communities that they will likely never visit.
How does the ACE Programme work?
By supporting the most vulnerable ECD facilities in our communities, where parents are struggling to pay fees. These facilities are either working towards registration or are registered but receive very little government funding. With the yearly fee of R2880 per child, the funds from ACE allow the facilities to make improvements to the children’s learning experience however they see fit. They can buy resources for the classroom, make infrastructure upgrades, buy food for the children, or even pay teachers salaries. With teacher retention being so low, it is important that we do what we can to support our ECD practitioners and keep them in the sector.
You can help
This Christmas, we encourage you to follow in the footsteps of our friends from Tarporley and give the gift of education. This is a great gift for the kindhearted friend or family member who already has everything. You can do this through The Rotary Club of Tarporley & District’s Just Giving page, adding any amount that suits you, to help us reach 100 more children. You can also sponsor a child’s fees for a full year through our website. When you donate, email admin@knysnaedutrust.co.za to receive an introduction picture of your sponsee and quarterly progress reports.
