Is the Trust audited annually?
The Trust is annually audited by an independent auditor, Michaeledes & Co, registered accountants and auditors that have been in operation for 46 years.
Do the Trustees / Management Team benefit financially in any way?
No, the Trustees / Management Team are all volunteers and meet monthly at a Trustee meeting, together with employees to review financials and project progress. At present we do have a Trustee that is fulfilling the role of Trustee and employee, as she is the most qualified to lead the mother tongue literacy development program.
Is the organisation overseen by a demographically representative management team?
Yes. The management board is a demographically representative team with the majority of the members each having more than 20 years of community service within the Knysna community.
What percentage of project costs is administrative/operational?
Project costs are influenced by:
- Size and complexity of the project;- Number of qualified Trust employees required to successfully execute the project, workshop training and/or onsite coaching and mentoring;- Accounting and administrative oversight required, daily, weekly, and/or monthly;- Period of project;- Amount of onsite monitoring required by Trust employees (influenced by project period), and;- Number of trained volunteers secured to assist in executing project successfully to reduce costs without losing delivery quality.
Currently project costs average out at 15%. We are working to reduce this even further through annual funding from the Department of Social Development.
Who are your beneficiaries?
The Trust provides services and support to any care group, or crèche in the greater Knysna area, that is trying to become registered as an Early Childhood Development centre. At present our beneficiaries all come from historically disadvantaged areas within the greater Knysna region.
